Quality inspector/CMM Programmer

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to support inspection activities within an AS9100-certified aerospace manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for inspecting precision machined components and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and industry standards. The position also includes developing, executing, and maintaining CMM programs to support inspection of complex, tight-tolerance parts, ensuring accuracy, repeatability, and full compliance with GD&T requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and 3D models to inspect precision machined components and assemblies.
  • Apply advanced GD&T (ASME Y14.5) to validate tight-tolerance features and ensure full compliance.
  • Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot CMM programs for complex geometries and critical features.
  • Perform and review First Article Inspections (AS9102), in-process, and final inspections.
  • Lead inspection activities for high-priority or critical hardware, including customer source inspections.
  • Generate, document, and support resolution of nonconformances (NCRs), including root cause input and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve technical and inspection-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 quality system requirements, customer specifications, and contractual obligations.
  • Verify completeness and accuracy of all quality documentation (CoCs, material certs, special processes).
  • Maintain calibration systems and ensure all inspection equipment meets traceability requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection methods, CMM efficiency, and quality processes.
  • Perform incoming inspection of materials and supplier-provided components.

Position Requirements

  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments: calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, thread gauges
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and material certifications
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings
  • Good math and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail

Experience & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 4+ years of experience in Quality Inspection (aerospace preferred)
  • 2+ years of CMM programming experience (preferred)
  • Experience as a Mechanical Inspector (preferred)
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality systems

Job Opening: Senior Horizontal Cell Machinist / CNC Programmer (Aerospace)

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Horizontal Cell Machinist with strong CNC programming experience to support our aerospace manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with deep knowledge of horizontal machining centers, complex aerospace components, and tight-tolerance work in a regulated environment.

This role plays a key part in machining critical flight hardware and supporting continuous improvement within a high-mix, low-to-medium volume production cell.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently      set up, operate, and program horizontal CNC machining centers     (HMCs)
  • Create, modify,     and optimize CNC programs at the machine and/or using CAM software
  • Machine      complex, tight-tolerance aerospace components to AS9100 standards
  • Work with      palletized cell systems, multi-part fixtures, and long-cycle jobs
  • Interpret      engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, and aerospace      documentation
  • Select tooling,      establish cutting parameters, and optimize cycle times
  • Perform first      article inspections (FAI) and in-process checks
  • Troubleshoot Machining,      tooling, and dimensional issues
  • Collaborate      with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams
  • Support      continuous improvement, lean initiatives, and best practices
  • Maintain a      clean, safe, and organized workspace

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of CNC      machining experience, with significant time on      horizontal machining centers
  • Strong CNC      programming skills required (G-code and/or CAM)
  • Extensive      experience producing aerospace components
  • Advanced      blueprint reading and GD&T proficiency
  • Strong      knowledge of materials common to aerospace (aluminum, titanium, Inconel,      stainless steels
  • Ability to work      independently with minimal supervision
  • Solid      understanding of aerospace quality systems and documentation
  • Proficient with      precision measurement tools and inspection techniques

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with      Fanuc controls
  • CAM software      experience such as Mastercam, NX, CATIA, or similar
  • We use Surfcam     and NX
  • Prior      experience in cell manufacturing or lights-out machining
  • AS9100/ISO      experience
  • Leadership or      mentoring of junior machinists
